올해 제7회를 맞이한 ‘아트스펙트럼2022’전은 리움미술관이 역량 있는 젊은 한국 작가를 발굴하고 지원하여 국내외에 적극적으로 소개하는 전시로, 2001년 호암갤러리에서 청년작가 서베이 전시로 시작된 이후 2014년 외부 평론가 및 큐레이터의 참여, 작가상 시상 등 열린 방식으로 변화를 거듭하며 개최되어왔다.
이번 전시에는 김동희, 김정모, 노혜리, 박성준, 소목장세미, 안유리, 전현선, 차재민 총 8인이 참여하며, 5월 중 아트스펙트럼 작가상 수상자 1인을 선정할 예정이다.
8인의 작가들은 예술작품을 소유하는 방식에 대한 질문, 사회적 편견에 대한 도전, 현재에 지속적으로 소환되는 과거 등 작가의 개인사에서부터 예술 제도를 아우르는 주제를 담은 신작을 선보인다.
뿐만 아니라 관객을 초대하는 작품, 전시장의 구조를 활용해 낯선 세계를 발견하게 하는 작품들은 관객들에게 생동감과 상상력이 넘치는 경험을 선사한다.
올해로 21주년을 맞이한 아트스펙트럼 전시는 한국미술의 다양성을 보여줘 왔으며, 이번 전시에서도 국제무대에서 성장가능성을 가진 젊은 작가들이 예술의 영역을 넓혀가는 현장을 살펴볼 수 있을 것이다.
Artspectrum was launched in 2001 at Hoam Gallery as a biannual survey exhibition of young and emerging South Korean artists. Since 2006, it has been held at the Leeum Museum of Art, where the current processes for artist selection and review were established. In 2014, Leeum began inviting outside curators and critics as well as internal curators to recommend
artists, in addition to a separate professional jury to select one artist to receive a prize. These processes embrace diversity,
openness, and the artists’ creative will.
Over the twenty-year history of Artspectrum, Korea’s contemporary art scene underwent dramatic changes. Moving image and installation works are prevalent along with painting and sculpture. Performance and audience participation are now familiar approaches. Artspectrum2022 will present many young artists from home and abroad, working actively across various mediums and genres, expanding the domain of visual art, diversifying the exhibition audience, and cultivating new identities as artist.
