Dong-Yeon Koh is a critic, curator and adjunct Professor at Ewha Women's University, Korea. Koh is the author of nine books in English and in Korean including The Korean War and Postmemory Generation (2021), The Condition of Art Criticism (2019), and Soft-power: The Popularization Artistic Practices in East Asian Art (2018).

지난 20여 년간 국내외 아트 레지던시의 멘토, 운영위원으로 활동해오고 있으며 냉전의 기억, 소비문화와 젠더의 관계성을 다뤄온 미술사가이자 비평가이다. ‘신도 작가지원 프로그램’ 국제심사위원(2011~2014), ‘서울국제뉴미디어페스티벌’ 집행위원(2017~2021), ‘강원국제트리엔날레2024’ 예술감독을 역임했다.

미술사, 영화이론, 미술경영 분야의 논문 40여 편을 등재 학술지(KCI)와 국제 유명 저널(AHCI)에 발표해왔다. 특히 「인터-아시아 문화연구」(러틀리지), 「플래시 아트」, 「모던 아트 아시아」, 「입장들」(듀크대학교), 「사진과 문화」(러틀리지) 등에 1990년대 이후 한국의 동시대 미술에 관한 글과 연구가 게재됐다.

한국 미술 현장을 분석하고 미술계 인사들을 인터뷰한 것을 바탕으로 다수의 저서를 집필, 『응답하라 작가들』(2015), 『Staying Alive: 우리 시대 큐레이터들의 생존기』(공저, 2016), 『소프트파워에서 굿즈까지』(2018), 『비평의 조건: 비평이 권력이기를 포기한 자리에서』(공저, 2019), 『누가 선택을 강요하는가?: 여성, 엄마, 예술가 사이에서 균형 찾기』(공저, 2022), 『The Korean War and Postmemory Generation: The Arts and Films in South Korea(한국전쟁과 전후기억의 세대: 남한의 동시대 미술과 영화)』(런던, 러틀리지, 2021) 등을 펴냈다. 또한 이정실 교수와 공저한 『Modern and Contemporary Korean Art in Context, 1950-Now(전후 맥락에서의 한국미술사)』(런던, 블룸스버리)가 2025년 5월에 출간될 예정이다.

현재 이화여대 경영대학원 겸임교수로 재직하고 있으며, 글로벌 미술시장에 대해 강의하고 있다.
