인상주의 회화를 빛낸 대표 화가 르누아르의 작품을 선보이는 전시 ‘르누아르의 여인’전은 전세계 30여 국공립미술관과 사립미술관 및 개인 소장 작품들로 구성된 전시로, 르누아르의 작품 중 ‘여성’을 주제로 한 오리지널 작품만을 한자리에 모았다. 전시 구성은 ‘르누아르가 사랑했던 여성 이미지’를 네 개의 테마로 나뉘었다. 어린아이들과 십대 소녀를 아름다운 색채로 표현 한 첫 번째 테마 ‘어린아이와 소녀’를 시작으로, 공식적인 주문에 의한 초상화나 주변 지인 혹은 신원미상의 여인 등의 모습을 두번 째 테마 ‘일상의 여인’, 부인 알린 샤리고와 유모였던 가브리엘 그리고 뮤즈였던 데데의 모습을 볼 수 있는 ‘가족 안의 여인’, 마지막으로 네 번째 테마 ‘목욕하는 여인과 누드’에서는 고전주의적 가르침으로부터 관능적이고 풍만한 여성 누드로 완성된 그의 여인상을 소개한다. 본 전시는 인간의 일상이 누려야 할 진정한 행복의 의미를 화폭으로 전달하고자 했던 르누아르의 작품 세계를 ‘여성’이라는 단일 주제를 통해 기법적 특징과 표현력뿐만 아니라 그의 예술철학과 재능을 이해하고 감상할 수 있는 기회가 될 것이다.

‘RENOIR: Image of women’, an exhibition of leading Impressionist painter Pierre-Auguste RENOIR has gathered from around the world RENOIR’s original masterpieces that handle the theme of women. It is composed of paintings from 30 national, public and private art museums. This exhibition is divided into four themes according to their features to help viewers understand the ‘female image’. The first theme, ‘Children & Young Women’ features colorful paintings that express the joy of daily life. The second section ‘Women in All Aspects’ visitors can encounter artworks of women in RENOIR’s times who came to life with RENOIR’s unique brushstrokes: portraits of RENOIR’s acquain

tances, of unknown women, or of those ordered by patrons. ‘Women in Family’ allows us a glimpse into the artist’s image of women in his family, through paintings of his wife Aline CHARIGOT, his children’s nanny Gabrielle, and his last muse Dédé. The last theme, ‘Bathers and Nudes’, introduces viewers to RENOIR’s image of women by expressing the mystery of the female body on the canvas through a series of sensual and voluptuous images of bathers and nudes in the style of classicism. The exhibition will be a special opportunity for viewers to appreciate works by RENOIR, who endeavored to express the meaning of true happiness by depicting people’s everyday lives on the canvas.
