일상 ∞ 미세한 창조의 연금술적 실험실
아트스페이스 광교는 개관전으로 한국을 대표하는 설치미술가 최정화의 ‘최정화, 잡화雜貨’전을 개최한다. 이번 전시는 일상과 예술, 예술과 비예술의 경계를 넘어선 다양한 작품들을 통해 우리의 일상을 예술이 존재하는 생동감 있는 공간과 시간으로 재탄생시킨다.
최정화는 작고 하찮아 보이는 일상의 것들을 통해 익숙했던 것들에게서 숨겨져 있던 낯선 세계를 드러내며, 작은 것들이 품고 있는 본래적 존재의 큰 세계와 그 존재의 무한한 확장을 열어내 시각화하고 있다. 그는 표면적으로 보잘것없어 보이는 일상생활을 빛나는 의미의 장이 숨겨져 있는 새로운 차원으로 끌어내며, 일상이란 재료에 장소적 환경인 공간이 만나며 마술적이고 시적인 힘을 획득해 특별한 관계가 맺어지는 체험의 현장으로 탈바꿈시킨다. 세상의 모든 잡스러운 물건(雜貨)들로 차려진 여기 잡화점(雜貨店)은 일상이자 곧 창조가 이뤄지는 연금술적 실험의 무대이며, 모든 것들이 화합하고 조화되어 만나는 숭고한 변화의 자리이다.
The Ordinary ∞ The Alchemical Laboratory of Fine Creation
Artspace Gwanggyo will present ‘CHOI Jeong-hwa, GOODS AND THINGS’, the solo exhibition of Korea’s leading artist CHOI Jeonghwa, as its inaugural exhibition. This project discovers CHOI’s various artworks which goes beyond the borders of the ordinary and art, and art and non-art, recreate our daily lives into a lively space and time where art exists.
CHOI visualizes how small things embrace the massive world of essential existence and the infinite expansion of that existence through daily objects which seem small and trivial. This ‘Goods, Store(雜貨,店)’ stocking all kinds of trivial goods found in the world, is the stage for alchemical experiments where daily matters or creation takes place. It is also a venue of sublime transformation where all things meet by unifying and harmonizing.
