Suncheon Bay International Eco-Environmental Art Festival 2016

세계 26개국 58명(팀) 작가들이 ‘낙원유람(樂園遊覽)’을 주제로 순천만국가정원의 서문 일원에서 ‘2016순천만국제자연환경미술제’를 펼치고 있다. 

올해 처음 개최되는 이 미술제는 유네스코 세계 자연유산인 순천만의 국제적 위상을 드높이고, 순천의 예술문화도시로서의 정체성 확립을 위해 열리는 것이다. 참가 작가는 이승택, 김구림, 최평곤, 이이남, 이용백, 허강, 김기라, 이경호(한국), 로저 리고스(독일), 스티븐 시걸(미국), 피어 홀투이젠(네덜란드) 등 26개국 58명(팀)으로 80대의 원로에서 20대의 신진까지 다채로운 작가군을 포함하는 한편, 자연 재료를 사용한 미술품들에 그치지 않고, 레이저아트를 비롯한 

영상 작품 등 새로운 개념의 ‘자연환경미술제’로도 의미를 더한다.

미술제는 전시 1. 낙원유람(야외 설치전), 전시 2. 남도의 낙원(실 내전), 전시 3. 큰 뜰 유람(퍼포먼스 아트), 그리고 부대행사인 생태 워크숍으로 구성되어 있다. 미술제가 끝난 뒤에도 5점의 작품은 순천만 국가정원에 설치돼 관람객들에게 지속적으로 선보이게 된다. 김성호 총감독은 실험적 방향을 제시하는 한편, 자연과 환경이 함께 가는 대중과의 호흡 역시 중요하게 생각했다.

The 2016 Suncheon Bay International Eco-environment Art Festival will be held at Suncheon Bay National Garden. The theme of the festival this year is ‘Voyage into Paradise’. This art festival, which will feature works by 58 artists(teams) from 26 countries throughout the world, provides its vision as an art event bumping shoulders with prestigious biennnales at home and abroad and other international art shows. LEE Seung-taek, KIM Gurim, CHOI Pyeong-gon, HEO Gang, LEE Yong-baek, and other prominent Korean Artists, along with Steven SIEGAL, Roger RIGORTH, Teruhisa SUZUKI, Peer HOLTHUIZEN, and other famous foreign artists will be participating. This art festival consists of the Exhibition 1. Voyage into Paradise (open air installation exhibition), Exhibition2. Paradise in Namdo (indoor Exhibition), Exhibition 2. Excursion to the Great Garden (performance art) and other auxiliary events and an Eco Workshop. KIM Sung-ho, artistic director of this festival, intended to offer an opportunity for each visitor to realize the importance of nature and to enjoy the pleasure offered by art and culture.
