플랫폼-엘 컨템포러리아트센터는 개관 기념전으로 ‘배영환: 새들의 나라’와 ‘양푸동: 천공지색’ 두 개인전을 동시에 개최한다. 1990년 후반 시작해서 현재까지 <유행가> 시리즈 및 다양한 주제의 개인전을 통해 한국 동시대 미술에서 주목을 받은 배영환은 독특한 작가적 삶의 태도나 세계관을 자신의 작업 속에 녹여왔다. 4년 만에 선보이는 이번 개인전 ‘새들의 나라’는 작가의 지난 작업 궤적과의 연속·단절을 시도하며, 신작들을 통해 새로운 차원의 개념적 지평을 모색한다. 양푸동은 중국 동시대 미술을 대표하는 설치미술 작가이자 영화감독이다. 이번 개인전을 통해 소개되는 <천색:신여성Ⅱ>은 <신여성> (2013)의 후속편이자 작가의 첫 번째 디지털 컬러 필름이다. 인공적으로 꾸며진 촬영 세트와 프리즈프레임과 트래블링 숏이 교차하는 촬영기법은 30년대 영화의 영상 시학을 반추하게 한다.
Platform-L Contemporary Art Center presents two inaugural solo exhibitions: ‘YANG Fudong, The Coloured Sky: New WomenⅡ’ and ‘BAE Young-whan, Pagus Avium’. Drawing attention from the Korean contemporary art scene starting late 1990s until the 2000s with works such as the current <Pop Song> series and solo exhibitions on various subjects BAE Young-whan has been dissolving a unique authorial attitude and world view in his works. After four years since his last solo exhibition, the exhibition, ‘Pagus Avium’, consists of new works that reference and transgress his previous artistic trajectory in order to explore the conceptual dimensions. YANG Fudong is a video installation artist and filmmaker who is representative of Chinese contemporary art. In the exhibition <The Coloured Sky: New WomenⅡ> is the sequel to <New Women>(2013), and is the first digital film in color produced by the artist. Yang’s camerawork that an artificial set, freeze frame and traveling shots are intertwined leads to ruminate the poetics of cinema in the 1930s.
