입체적인 공간으로 재해석된 윤현진 작가의 ‘마음으로 보는 심경산수’, 바닷속을 유영하는 고래와 가오리를 키네틱 아트로 탄생시킨 이상용 작가의 ‘난다고래’와 ‘만타레이’​, 두 작가의 입체 작품을 통해 본 전시 공간은 하나의 무대처럼 연출되었습니다​

고대 그리스시대 연극무대장치기법의 하나인 ‘데우스 엑스 마키나(Deus ex machina)’는 ‘God from the machine’이라는 의미입니다. 물건을 위아래로 움직이게하는 기중기같은 장치로 연극 중 신이나 영웅의 등장이 필요할 때 사용되었고, 이것은 곧 초자연적인 힘을 이용하여 극의 흐름을 바꾸거나 극적인 결말을 가져오게 하는 역할을 하였습니다. 그러나 현대의 영화나 연극에서는 신적인 존재의 개입이라기 보다는 사건을 해결하기 힘든 상황에 무언가가 딱 알맞은 타이밍에 나타나 플롯(plot,사건)을 해결해주는 것을 의미합니다.​

예술의 많은 역할 중 하나도 그것과 닮아 있으니, 본 전시를 통해 관람객에게 신선한 자극과 자유로운 해방감의 기회를 제공하는 전시가 되길 바랍니다​

The artist Yoon Hyunjin's "Looking at Landscape Paintings with Heart; Mind Landscape" reinterpreted through the three-dimensional space, the artist Lee Sangyong's "Dancing Whale" and "Manta Ray" which have brought to life the underwater world with kinetic art, featuring whales and manta rays swimming, The exhibition space, as seen through the three-dimensional works of both artists, has been staged like a single grand stage.​

One of the stagecraft techniques from ancient Greek theater, 'Deus ex machina' means 'God from the machine'. It was a device similar to a lever that could move objects up and down and was used in theater when the appearance of gods or heroes was required. This device soon came to represent the use of supernatural forces to change the flow of the play or bring about a dramatic conclusion. However, in modern films and theater, it refers not so much to the intervention of divine beings but rather to something conveniently appearing at the right moment to resolve challenging plot developments.​

One of the many roles of art resembles the concept of this exhibition, so we hope that this exhibition will provide viewers with a fresh stimulus and a sense of liberation.
